Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse - Operating Room for a Level I Trauma Center, requiring CA RN licensure and experience in trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic surgical procedures.
Details
- Acute care hospital with 277 staffed beds
- Level I Trauma Center Operating Room setting
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
- Variable start times available at 7:00 or 9:00
- Weekend shifts required
- May need to cover one additional night shift during the contract as needed
- On-call required, distributed equally among staff every 6 weeks (up to 6-8 shifts per 6-week period, including nights, evenings, and weekends)
- Floating required between like units and potentially sister facilities
- Uses Epic charting system
- OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU scrubs provided
Requirements
- Active CA RN license (Compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of OR experience required, 5 years preferred
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with vascular, neuro, orthopedic, and general surgical procedures required
- Experience with trauma cases including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multiple injury MVAs required
- Knowledge of universal protocol (time-out) procedures, infection control, and emergency management protocols
Additional Information
- Perform circulating and/or scrub RN duties across a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, neuro, orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, plastics, bariatrics, and thoracic procedures
- Experience with robotic surgery systems (Da Vinci Xi) preferred
- Familiarity with specialized equipment such as cell saver, electrosurgical units, and Hana table preferred
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO must be submitted upfront at time of consideration; requests made after offer may not be accommodated
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted, though a lower bill rate will apply within a 50-mile radius
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Two supervisory references required, covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
