Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a teaching hospital role requiring circulating experience across multiple surgical specialties and Da Vinci Xi robotics proficiency.
Details
- Operating Room unit within an academic health center/teaching hospital
- Average census of 70-80 with 24 beds
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts from 10:45 AM to 9:15 PM
- Circulating role covering General, Ortho, Robotics, GYN, Thoracic, ENT, Oral, Urology, Whipple, Plastics (free flap), and Liver resection cases
- Uses the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
- Call requirement of 40-60 hours within a 6 week schedule
- Floating required to other units within the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals
- Cerner charting system used
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of circulating OR experience within the last 3 years across required specialties
- 3 years of experience preferred in an academic health center, teaching hospital, complex cancer care, or high acuity setting
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Charge experience preferred
- RN must have graduated from a program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Circulate a wide variety of surgical cases including gynecologic, plastics, general surgery, vascular, orthopedic, endoscopic, robotic, urologic, and ENT procedures
- Perform professional duties such as blood product administration, infection control, specimen handling, and Universal Protocol time-out procedures
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local IN residents are accepted for this Surgical Services position at the in-state rate
- Any current or former IU perm/PRN employee must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Current or past IU travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must complete a designated break to reset eligibility, effective 2/24/26
- Out-of-state residents require a 3-month break and in-state residents require a 6-month break to reset travel eligibility
- RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
