Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring AK licensure and at least 2 years of L&D experience.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit setting
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Variable 3x12 shifts with a minimum of 50-70% night shifts on a rotating day/night schedule
• Equitable weekend shift rotation required
• Floating required 0-3 times per month, limited to helping hands, sitter/camera watching, or CNA-type duties within OB
• Royal blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active AK RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• 2 years of L&D experience required, LDRP experience preferred
• Any charting system experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience with labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Experience administering medications such as antihypertensives, antiseizure drugs, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
• Experience with neonatal care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and use of radiant warmers
• Experience with newborn care including cord care, discharge teaching, and newborn assessment
• Experience with antepartum care procedures including NST, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
• Experience with fetal monitoring including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and use of external and internal fetal monitoring
• Experience with pain management including epidural anesthesia and PCA use
• Two professional references from within the past 2 years required, with at least one from a supervisor
• Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including patients and families
• Document patient care in the healthcare record per established standards
• Direct and delegate care to team members based on their competencies
• Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives and professional development
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Candidates with a pending AK license may be considered, though start date may be delayed while licensure is processed
• Local candidates are not accepted within a 60-mile radius of the facility
• Previous PeaceHealth employees must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Up to 3 RTO days may be approved for auto-offer positions, or up to 7 for regular offers, and must be disclosed and approved before contract signing
