Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring charge nurse, insulin drip, and cardiac drip experience.
Details
- Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a small 25-bed Critical Access Hospital
- Patient population includes med surg, telemetry, orthopedic, urology, ENT, GYN, general surgery, and some progressive care patients
- Patient ages range from young adult to end of life
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 or 1:5 based on acuity
- Unit staffed with LNA/CNA/PCT support (2-3 or more per shift) and unit clerks as needed
- Uses EPIC documentation system and PYXIS medication system
- Special equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Phillips cardiac monitoring
- 24/7 respiratory therapy support available for ventilator and nebulizer management
- 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
- Floating is voluntary and within scope only
- Charge nurse responsibilities include working a minimum of every other weekend and/or adjusted scheduling to meet unit needs
- Holiday coverage required as needed to staff the unit
Requirements
- Active RN license (VT or Compact) required
- AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required prior to start
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Progressive care experience preferred
- Charge RN experience required
- Insulin drip and cardiac drip experience required
- EPIC experience within the past 2 years required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Reliable personal transportation required due to lack of public transit access

- Unit provides Code 99, Rapid Response, Fall Team, and IV Team coverage
- 24/7 dedicated hospitalist coverage for the unit
- 24/7 lab and x-ray support available on site
- House supervisors and on-call managers provide additional support across all units
- Team culture emphasizes teamwork, professional growth, and support for continued learning
- Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April due to regional weather conditions
