Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a TX or compact license and willingness to float to Medical/Surgical units.

Details

• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30-07:00
• 13-week assignment in a Labor & Delivery unit
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Required to float to Medical/Surgical floors in rotation with full-time staff
• Uses Centricity charting system
• Community hospital setting

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience
• Prior Medical/Surgical experience preferred and must be comfortable floating to this unit
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM, and NRP
• Experience with Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum couplet care preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
• Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement and calibration, and spiral electrode placement
• Experience assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections
• Comfortable managing medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Newborn care experience including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
• Support high-risk deliveries, C-section procedures, and postpartum complications such as hemorrhage
• Perform newborn assessments, discharge teaching, and lactation support
• Located in Texas wine country, approximately 1 hour outside San Antonio
• Facility housing available
• Must reside within 50 miles or be willing to relocate for the assignment as local candidates are not accepted
• Must work 3 of the 5 winter holidays
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for positive results
