Description

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN for a float pool position on nights requiring 2+ years of tele experience and CA RN licensure.

Details

• Acute care hospital float pool position based on a 31-bed Telemetry unit, floating to Med/Surg, DOU, and ER as needed
• Also floats to a sister facility approximately 9 miles away to cover Telemetry and Med/Surg units
• Patient ratio of 1:4 on the home Telemetry unit
• High acuity patient population including pneumonia, end-stage renal disease, post cath lab, respiratory distress, CHF, and COPD
• Utilizes Cerner EMR
• Philips telemetry monitors with dedicated monitor techs; RNs must read and sign off on strips
• Manages non-titrating drips including amiodarone, cardizem, and heparin
• No ventilator management, though BiPAP/CPAP may be used
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, with every other weekend required first to float
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun nights)
• Charge nurse and resource RN or shift manager on every shift, with charge nurse not taking patient assignments
• Nurse aide support varies by census
• 24/7 in-house RT and pharmacy support, with hospitalist coverage after hours

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2-3 years of recent RN experience required
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience managing drips required
• Chest tube experience preferred
• Must be able to accurately read telemetry strips
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide primary bedside nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity telemetry environment with limited support staff
• Float assignments include Med/Surg, DOU, Telemetry, and ER for Med/Surg or Tele holds
• Floor-specific orientation includes one shift on the home unit and one shift on each additional unit or facility floated to
• Navy scrub color required
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday
• Candidates must demonstrate a positive attitude and compassionate approach given the demanding patient population
• First-time travelers may be considered given required experience level is met
