Description
American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown RN for a night shift telemetry position requiring 2+ years of experience and NC or Compact licensure in hand.
Details
- Stepdown unit within a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- MS/Tele and orthopedic patient population with telemetry monitoring
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30), full time
- Every other weekend required
- One major holiday coverage required
- No blocked scheduling permitted
- Epic charting system used
Requirements
- Active RN license, NC or Compact, must be in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of experience including telemetry experience
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with cardiac drip management and titration
- Experience with wound care and isolation precautions
- One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for stepdown-level medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Manage a variety of clinical needs including neurological, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and endocrine conditions
- Orientation occurs on a bi-weekly basis
- Scrub color requirement: Galaxy Blue or Royal Blue
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) with no exemptions
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
- RTO must be submitted for consideration, maximum of 5-7 days
- Previous permanent employment with the health system must be disclosed and must not have occurred within the past 6 months
- First-time travelers may be considered depending on unit requirements

Unnecessarily strict policies when sick/injured; doctor notes are not accepted as an “excuse”, micromanagement, unprofessional leadership, bullying, favoritism and unfairness, not willing to train certain people in certain areas or approve certain people’s requests off , heavy workload and constantly being rushed, micromanaged, and distracted by gossip/drama while having to pay attention to detail, not willing to repair/replace certain functions.
