Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Long Term Acute Care Float position requiring CT/compact license and 1-2 years of experience with prior travel assignment history.

Details

  • Float pool position within a long-term acute care hospital setting
  • Primary patient population is respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patients in a medical (non-traditional Med/Surg) environment
  • Most commonly supports the Respiratory Care Unit/Respiratory Step-Down Unit with ratios of 1:9 (days/evenings) and 1:12 (nights)
  • Also floats to MRU/CMU Medically Complex Rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring (ratios 1:7 days/evenings, 1:9 nights)
  • Also floats to TRU for TBI and medically complex chronic care patients (ratios 1:7-10 days/evenings, 1:12 nights)
  • Also floats to Hartford Satellite Campus covering Medical, Rehab, and Respiratory units (ratios 1:5-8, average 6-7)
  • Floating assignments are based on weekly need, with respiratory units having the highest demand
  • Will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless pedi-specific experience is indicated
  • 12-hour day shift schedule, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 36 hours per week

Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license required
  • 1-2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred
  • Willing to obtain flu vaccination or provide medical declination (personal or religious declinations not accepted)
  • Skilled in IV starts, drip management, blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, and glucose monitoring
  • Skilled in wound vac changes, wound dressings, and wound measurements
  • Skilled in trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, and foley care
  • Skilled in port access and central line dressing changes

Additional Information

  • Nurses are not responsible for managing ventilators, as this is handled by respiratory therapists
  • Responsibilities include a wide range of clinical procedures across various complex patient populations
  • Orientation is held every Monday
  • Accepts local candidates at a reduced rate
  • Local rate enabled within a 50-mile radius
  • Radius rate applies for eligibility
