Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Rehabilitation Unit position requiring a CT or compact RN license and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Long Term Acute Care setting on the Medical Rehabilitation Unit (MRU/CMU), a medically complex rehabilitation unit with cardiac monitoring
• Patient population includes LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wound care, CAPD, and ventilator patients
• Nurses do not manage ventilators, as RTs handle vent care
• Ratios are 1:7 on days/evenings and 1:9 on nights
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to Respiratory Care Unit/Respiratory Step-Down Unit, TRU (TBI/Chronic Care), and Hartford Satellite Campus based on weekly need, with respiratory units having highest demand
• Float RNs will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless pedi-specific

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred
• Willing to obtain flu vaccination or provide a medical declination (personal or religious declinations not accepted)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
• Orientation is held every Monday
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate
