Description
American Traveler is hiring a night-shift Telemetry RN for a float pool position requiring 2 years of tele/stepdown experience and a CA RN license.
Details
- Acute care Tele Float Pool unit with 38 beds, floating to medsurg and telemetry units
- Nurse:patient ratios of 4:1 to 5:1
- Common diagnoses include ETOH, DKA, heart failure, sepsis, stroke, and post-surgical GI, GU, and joint replacement patients
- RNs are required to titrate drips such as insulin, heparin, amiodarone, and cardizem
- GE telemetry monitors used, with monitor techs present but RNs required to read their own strips
- Unit staffed with Charge Nurses/NSM (non-patient assignment) and Unit Aides
- Respiratory equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend
- No call or standby requirements
- 1 day of unit-specific orientation per unit floated to
Requirements
- Active CA RN license (or Compact/NLC) required, pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry/stepdown experience required
- Must be able to titrate common drips including insulin, heparin, amiodarone, and cardizem
- Must be able to independently read telemetry strips
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Float pool RN role covering telemetry and medsurg units as needed
- Navy scrub color required
- Weekend and holiday coverage requirements vary by schedule
- Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) prior to offer confirmation
- Sterile technique competency test (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) administered on first day of orientation, pass/fail
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year, though PRN work through outside firms is acceptable
