Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring prior travel experience and NIHSS certification.
Details
- Work on 3 South, a 19 private room medical-surgical unit
- Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients
- Serves medical and surgical patients including neurology and neurosurgical diagnoses
- Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- Epic charting system used
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Minimum 1 year of charge nurse experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line care
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry
- Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, oxygen administration, and suctioning
- Experience with GI care including bowel obstruction and ostomy management preferred
- Experience with neurological conditions such as CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injury preferred
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
Additional Information
- Provide medical-surgical level monitoring, interventions, and care to a diverse patient population
- Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for emergency situations
- Not accepting candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
- Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
