Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN requiring strong recent PICU experience and the ability to float between PICU, CVPICU, and NICU.

Details

  • Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level I Trauma status and 320 staffed beds
  • Float pool position covering Pediatric Critical Care, including PICU, CVPICU, and NICU
  • Day shift (4x12, 7:00-19:30) and night shift (4x12, 19:00-7:30) options available
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2, potentially 1:3 when floating to NICU
  • Floating required between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU based on facility needs
  • Every other weekend required, with block weekend scheduling available
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required, or pending license with proof and application submitted within 24-48 hours of signing (active license required before start)
  • MD/VA candidates require compact or state license
  • Current BLS and PALS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required (3+ years preferred)
  • Some NICU/CICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience preferred
  • Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT, ICP monitoring, and post-cardiac surgery care
  • Experience with pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across PICU, CVPICU, and NICU settings as needed
  • Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and logo-free
  • Holiday coverage required every other holiday, with one holiday guaranteed based on preference
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; if a full week is taken, the missed week must be made up by extending the assignment
  • No RTO permitted after accepting the offer
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
  • Previous employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year to be eligible for return
  • Pre-start training modules must be completed prior to orientation
