Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pulmonary Step Down/PCU position requiring ventilator, tracheostomy, and telemetry experience with a CT or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Pulmonary Step Down Unit caring for patients on mechanical ventilation
• Average patient ratio of 1:3
• Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities required
• Float within scope to other units as needed to meet facility needs
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date (may apply for license prior to submission)
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years accepted if from a Level I Trauma Center or large hospital)
• Required skills include ICU, ventilator, telemetry, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams required
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration) required
• 1 professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required unless religious or medical exemption applies

Additional Information

• Care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation on a Pulmonary Step Down Unit within a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center setting
• Participate in isolation precautions and PPE protocols as required
• Travelers may be obligated to participate in natural disaster or other emergency response activities
• First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital
• Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Requests for RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved; longer requests require additional approval
