Description
American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring NRP certification and at least 2 years of NICU experience.
Details
- Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit setting
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
- 36 or 48 hours per week
- Required to work 3 weekends within a 6-week scheduling period
- Required to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license (can be pending, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Level III NICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in neonatal ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, and nitric oxide therapy
- Experience with UAC/UVC catheter care, central/implanted line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Skilled in neonatal dosage calculations and IV vasopressor administration
- BSN preferred
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Care for critically ill neonates requiring advanced respiratory, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal support
- Responsibilities include assisting with lumbar punctures, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and post-abdominal surgery care
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
- Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, with none approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine an appropriate start date
- Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have at least 1 year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
