Description

American Traveler is hiring an Endoscopy RN with a minimum of 2 years of GI/endoscopy experience and an active SC or compact RN license to support day shift procedures at an acute care hospital.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with 75 staffed beds
  • Endoscopy unit supporting inpatient and outpatient procedures
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • 1:1 patient ratio in the procedure suite; 4:1 ratio for preop and discharge
  • Required to work on-call, including weekday call Monday through Thursday and every third weekend (Friday through Sunday)
  • Occasional floating within scope to like units or sister facilities
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact license required in hand prior to start
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of endoscopy nursing experience required
  • Experience with post-procedure care, airway management, and monitored anesthesia care recovery required
  • Experience with equipment such as balloon dilators, dilators, electrosurgical units, ERBE units, forceps, foreign body equipment, and polyp snares preferred
  • Experience with colonoscopy, EGD, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), esophageal varices and banding required; ERCP and scrub role experience preferred
  • Skilled in specimen handling/labeling, starting and maintaining IVs, and pre-procedure care
  • Social Security Number and driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include circulating and supporting GI/endoscopy procedures across pre- and post-procedure phases
  • Navy blue scrubs provided by the facility
  • Free parking available with a pass distributed at pickup
  • Must reside within 30 minutes of the facility to respond to call as needed
  • Local candidates within a 60-mile radius considered on a case-by-case basis, though non-local candidates are prioritized
  • Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • During hurricane season (June through November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
  • First-time travelers may be considered depending on the position
  • Block scheduling requests may be submitted for approval but are not guaranteed
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for consideration
