Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position at a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of neuro Med/Surg Tele experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Neurological patient population including CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgery cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Uses Epic charting system
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 1900-0730, Monday through Friday
• Weekend rotation required
• Holiday coverage as needed
• Floating required as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (WI or Compact)
• BLS certification (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Neuro Med/Surg Tele within the last 3 years
• Epic charting experience required, within past 12 months preferred
• Must pass a telemetry competency exam prior to starting, including strict criteria for adult and pediatric rhythm identification
• Skills in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team activation
• Wound care and wound vac management experience
• IV insulin protocol and medication administration experience (Heparin, Insulin, PCA)

Additional Information

• Provide care for neurological, orthopedic, and med/surg patients including ortho trauma cases
• Located at a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have 2 years of Level I or similar size hospital inpatient neuro experience within the last 2 years
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Parking permit may be required for onsite parking, with alternative transportation options available
