Description

American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for a Level III NICU night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years recent Level 3 or greater NICU experience.

Details

• 32-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit located in the Women's Pavilion
• Staffing includes 1 charge RN, 5-7 staff RNs, 1 PCT/clerk, and 1 RT per shift
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
• Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, Medela milk warmers, Natus and GE phototherapy lights, GE Panda warmers/Giraffes, CareFusion Oscillator, Getinge (Servo) Ventilator, and Fisher & Pykel Bubble CPAP
• Uses Epic EMR
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 13-week assignment
• Rotating weekends required, 4 weekend shifts per month
• Floating to the well-baby nursery required

Requirements

• Active RN license (UT or Compact) required
• Current certifications: NRP, BLS, and STABLE
• Minimum 2 years recent Level 3 or greater NICU experience required
• Experience caring for premature and critically ill neonates, including infants requiring respiratory support
• Competency managing patients on CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and mechanical ventilation
• Experience with umbilical lines (UAC/UVC), PICC lines, and central line management
• Experience administering and monitoring TPN/lipids, IV medications, and neonatal drips
• Proficiency in neonatal assessment, stabilization, and recognition of clinical deterioration
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience in Level IV NICU or regional referral NICU preferred
• Experience caring for micro-preemies (<28 weeks gestation) and extremely low birth weight infants preferred
• Experience with high-frequency ventilation (HFOV/HFJV) and inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) preferred
• Experience assisting with PICC insertion, chest tube placement, and neonatal procedures preferred
• Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling) protocols preferred
• Experience caring for infants with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive neonatal care including resuscitation, stabilization, and management of critically ill and premature infants
• Perform surfactant administration, UVC/UAC and PICC line management, TPN/lipid administration, and phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia
• Manage therapeutic hypothermia protocols and neonatal sepsis evaluation and treatment
• Support discharge planning and caregiver education for families
• Collaborate closely with neonatologists, NNPs, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams
• Comfortable managing both intensive care and feeder-grower patient populations
• Hospital-laundered scrubs provided for each shift
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
