Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level III Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of ED experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Level III Trauma Center emergency department with 375 licensed beds and 46 ED beds, including 5 safe psych rooms and a fast track area
  • Averages 200 patients per day with a diverse patient population from pediatrics to geriatrics
  • Cares for trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, respiratory, and high acuity medical patients
  • High geriatric population, primarily falls and STEMI cases
  • Does not perform invasive neuro procedures such as craniotomies
  • Small pediatric volume, typically transferred to another facility
  • Day shift ratio of 1:4-5, flexing to 5 based on acuity and staffing
  • 12-hour Mids/Nights shift schedule with possible shift start times of 1500 or 1900
  • Shifts typically scheduled a week at a time on a consistent shift, subject to change
  • Schedules provided 3 weeks at a time, distributed about 10 days prior to start of schedule
  • Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
  • No floating required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic charting system along with Alaris pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
  • Central and bedside telemetry monitoring managed at the nursing station without a dedicated tele tech

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ED experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
  • Recent Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, and ED drips and medication administration
  • Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications
  • TNK administration experience preferred
  • Must complete and pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start

Additional Information

  • Support staff includes ER techs, resource/float nurses, 24/7 RT, ED educator, 24/7 security assigned to ED, 24/7 house supervisor, 24/7 social work services, and 24/7 pharmacy support
  • Charge nurse rarely takes a patient assignment
  • Orientation includes NEO on day one with badge and Epic training as needed, time in the mental health area and front-of-house areas, followed by a 12-hour shift with a preceptor on day two
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Nurse manager approves requested time off
  • Scrubs may be any professional color
  • Modest piercings (studs only) permitted; visible tattoos must not be offensive
  • Free parking available in designated areas
