Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift position requiring RRT certification and BLS/ACLS/NRP certifications.
Details
- Respiratory Therapy department in an acute care hospital setting
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 1730-0600
- 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
- Performs invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, medicated and non-medicated therapies
- Conducts arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, oximetry monitoring, and pulmonary function testing
- Responds to code blue and rapid response emergencies, including high-risk neonatal deliveries
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care required, Bachelor's degree preferred
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through NBRC required
- BLS, ACLS required
- PALS required unless in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) role
- NRP required for candidates working with neonatal population, not required in PFT role as determined by hiring manager
- State respiratory license required if applicable
- No prior experience required
Additional Information
- Performs patient assessment, airway management, and provides education to patients and families on respiratory therapy and disease management
- Assists with advanced specialty procedures such as endotracheal tube insertion, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy
- Completes diagnostic procedures including pulmonary function testing, EEG, and 12-lead EKG for specially trained therapists
- Documents patient care information in the medical record and communicates with care teams during shift report and transitions of care
- Participates in departmental quality improvement, safety initiatives, and equipment/supply management
- Attends departmental meetings, huddles, and in-services
- First-time travelers may be considered
