Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III NICU position requiring at least 2 years of specialty experience and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

• Level III NICU with 36 beds (33 private rooms, 3 transition beds) supporting over 4,000 births per year
• Patient population includes newborns to 3 months of age, with gestational ages of 24 weeks and above
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3
• 12-hour day shift schedule (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), 36 hours per week
• Family Centered Care model with 24/7 parental visitation
• Uses Sunrise Clinical Systems for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
• Special equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, Med fusion pumps, Dragger ventilators, NIPPV, Bubble CPAP, and Oscillator Vents
• Respiratory therapy and anesthesia support available 24/7, with ventilators managed by neonatologists and respiratory therapy
• Floating required to Pediatrics, L&D, and Postpartum units, as well as to the Sarasota Venice hospital campus with notice
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period
• Self-scheduling available with manager final approval
• Holiday coverage required as needed

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience required
• Minimum 2 years of specialty NICU experience, including at least 1 year in a Level III NICU
• Prior travel nursing experience required, with preference for experience across multiple large hospital systems
• Proficiency in IV skills, ventilator care, and central line management (UACs, UVCs, PICC, and midlines) required
• Chest tube maintenance and care experience required as needed
• Strong parent teaching skills required, particularly related to breastfeeding support
• Minimum of 2 years acute care experience with current EMR experience required
• At least 2 years full-time experience in specialized units within the last 2 years required
• Completion of at least 2 travel assignments in the past 12 months working full time in an acute care setting required

• Support a family-centered care philosophy that encourages parental participation in infant care
• Work alongside a supportive NICU team that uses a collaborative approach for patient care needs
• CNA/PCT support available with 1-2 staff per shift; unit clerk support also available
• 2 days of orientation provided
• Dress code includes navy scrubs, single wedding band only (no bracelets), conservative hair/beard grooming, and no gel polish or nail extensions
• Facility is a teaching hospital and designated Trauma Level 2 center
• Candidates with prior travel experience preferred, especially across multiple large hospital systems
• Local candidates accepted
• Radius rate rules apply for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
