Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a CA RN license, PALS, and 2+ years of recent PICU experience.

Details

  • PICU unit in a Level 2 trauma facility with 8 unit beds
  • Patient population includes respiratory illness, spinal surgery, craniotomy, sepsis, shock, DKA, general surgery, and ENT cases, ages infant and up
  • Patient ratio of 1:2 with criteria for 1:1 as needed
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
  • Up to 4 weekend shifts per month required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float required to Pediatrics or NICU, up to 1-2 units per 12-hour shift, with travelers floating first
  • Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
  • Special equipment includes Phillips MX 800 monitors
  • Respiratory therapy available 24/7; ventilators managed by RT

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA only)
  • NRP certification preferred
  • 2+ years of recent clinical experience required
  • 2+ years of recent PICU specialty experience required
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Previous travel experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in a Magnet-designated hospital with 24/7 in-house PICU Intensivist coverage
  • 3-4 days of orientation provided
  • Must be available for 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) and 2 of 3 summer holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day)
  • Scrubs of any color accepted, no denim, professional appearance required
  • Non-skid, closed-toe shoes required; clogs must have a heel strap
  • Minimal, professional jewelry permitted with no facial piercings other than ears
  • Hair must be pulled back if shoulder-length or longer; facial hair must be neat and trimmed
  • No gel, acrylic, or extension nail polish; polish must be free of chips or cracks
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
