Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and a Kansas/Missouri or compact RN license.

Details

  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
  • Non-trauma ED that is a Primary Stroke and STEMI Center
  • Typical ED diagnoses with occasional OB patients requiring mother/baby management until transfer
  • 1:4 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
  • 8 weekend shifts required within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule (combination of Fri/Sat/Sun)
  • Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
  • No on-call requirement
  • Regular floating required between ED Hold area, departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active KS and MO RN license or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
  • Preferred certifications: CPI, MAB
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience in the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days
  • Required skills: management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, CPAP/BiPAP, care of ventilated patients, isolation precautions, and triage
  • Preferred skills: interpretation of dysrhythmias, arterial line management, interpretation of ABGs, STEMI and Stroke Certified Facility experience
  • Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
  • SSN and finalized RTO/scheduling requests required at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care to a combined adult/pediatric ED population, including dysrhythmia management, ventilator care, and IV sedation/vasopressor administration
  • May assist with mother/baby management for occasional OB patients until transfer
  • Floating required between ED Hold area, departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time off finalized at time of consideration
  • Returning employees must have an 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service; former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Pre-start EMR, infusion pump, and glucometer training modules required prior to start
