Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level I Trauma acute care hospital, requiring 3 years of OR experience and an active IN or compact RN license.
Details
- Operating Room setting within a Level I Trauma short-term acute care hospital
- Core 3 & 4 units covering General, Plastics, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, and Colorectal Robotics surgeries
- Average daily census of 70-80 patients across 21 rooms
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- On-call requirement of 40-60 hours per 6 weeks, subject to variation
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, excluding CV and Transplant specialties
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start date
- Minimum 3 years of OR experience required; may screen candidates with over 2 years if they have at least 1 year of Level I trauma experience
- BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Circulating experience required; scrub experience preferred
- Well-rounded and current OR skills across most specialties including Gynecology, Plastics, Neurology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Robotics, Urology, and ENT procedures
- Experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System preferred
- Nursing degree from a college or university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide circulating and scrubbing support across a wide range of surgical specialties within a high-volume, Level I trauma OR setting
- Scrubs provided by facility
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates residing in Indiana are accepted for this Surgical Services position at a lower pay package
- Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility: 90 days for out-of-state residents or 180 days for in-state residents
- Parking is free on-site
