Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a teaching hospital setting, requiring at least 18 months of recent OR experience and a valid IN or Compact RN license.

Details

• Operating Room setting within an academic health center and teaching hospital
• 24-bed unit with an average census of 70-80
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts, Monday-Friday, 10:45 AM-9:15 PM
• Call requirement of 40-60 hours within a 6-week schedule
• 100% floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• Utilizes the DaVinci XI Surgical System

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum 18 months of recent RN experience unless otherwise specified
• Minimum 2 years of circulating OR experience within the last 3 years across General, Ortho, Robotics, GYN, Thoracic, ENT, Oral, Urology, Whipple, Plastics (free flap), and Liver resection procedures
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Charge experience preferred
• RN degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Circulate a wide variety of complex surgical cases including general, orthopedic, robotic, gynecologic, thoracic, ENT, oral, urologic, plastics, and transplant procedures
• Work within a high-acuity, complex cancer care and academic medical center environment
• Charge pay is offered
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• IN residents are considered local and accepted for this Surgical Services position at a lower in-state rate
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Former IU perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
