Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring prior travel nursing experience and cardiac drip management skills.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit functioning as overflow IMCU with 32 beds
• Adult to geriatric patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Manages cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin
• Manages diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
• Cares for patients with arrhythmia, CHF, chest pain, renal and pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT), and stable A-Fib, SVT, and Bradycardia
• Handles surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains) and occasional vascular, post cardiac cath, TR bands, DKA, ortho, and CVA overflow patients
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Typically works every other weekend with perm staff scheduled first
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Call is rare with a 2-hour response time
• Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience managing continuous IV medications and cardiac/vasoactive drips required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Basic arrhythmia knowledge and skill in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Pre/Post Cardiac Cath care and TR Band management
• Insulin drip titration experience preferred
• Central line and peripheral line care experience
• Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips and monitor for dysrhythmias, utilizing rapid response/code teams as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, which must be finalized at time of consideration
• No RTO can be requested during orientation week
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• If one or two major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested; if three fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Full compliance required to start on time
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
