Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring Epic EMR experience and the flexibility to float across multiple inpatient units.
Details
- Clinical Resource Unit (float pool) supporting Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab units
- Cares for diverse and complex patient populations including cardiac, pulmonary, oncology, stroke, and post-surgical patients
- Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week (36 hours)
- No on-call requirements
- Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Floats to Carle Health Methodist Hospital, Young Minds, Carle Health Pekin Hospital, and/or Carle Health Proctor Hospital
- Uses Epic EMR for documentation
Requirements
- Active IL RN license (temporary license accepted)
- Current BLS certification (AHA)
- College diploma in nursing required
- Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
- Epic EMR charting experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Skilled in IV venipuncture, blood administration, and medication administration
- Experience managing acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients
- Strong critical thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Additional Information
- Delegates and validates completion of patient care tasks assigned to HCTs
- Performs patient assessments, care planning, and discharge education
- Ensures compliance with safety protocols including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety
- Participates in bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintaining patient communication boards
- Provides post-operative care for complex surgical patients
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
- Fast-paced, evolving work environment across multiple specialty units
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel position
- RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
- Contingent workers may not remain on assignment at Carle Health for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service before returning
