Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring weekend charge nurse capability and neuro/spine or cardiac surgical experience.
Details
- 22-room Operating Room department in a non-trauma hospital setting
- Handles a wide range of surgical specialties including robotics, cardiac, vascular, neuro, spine, oncology, orthopedics, plastics, urology, and GYN
- Typical procedures include appendectomies, cholecystectomies, spine fusions, total joints, craniotomies, mastectomies, and DIEP flaps
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Day shift schedule, Saturday through Monday, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Meditech EMR
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent OR/surgery experience required
- Cardiac experience required if working the Cardiac service line
- Neuro/spine experience required
- Certification required for Certified Surgical Technicians (CST)
- BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted), not expiring within 30 days of start
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90+ days within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Serve as Weekend Charge Nurse as part of assigned duties
- Work alongside a team structure including charge nurse, RNs, CNAs, and surgical technicians running 22 ORs
- One team remains in-house at all times, including overnight
- Facility provides scrubs; closed-toe, non-slip, heeled shoes required
- Team is described as flexible, collaborative, self-directed, and positive
- Unit has experienced low staff turnover with several contract staff transitioning to permanent roles
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
