Description
American Traveler is hiring a Charge RN for the Operating Room requiring cardiac or neuro/spine experience and weekend shift availability.
Details
- Work in a 22-OR surgical department within a hospital main building
- Serves multiple service lines including Robotics, Cardiac, Vascular, Neuro, Spine, Oncology, Orthopedics, Plastics, Urology, and GYN
- Patient ratio of 1:1
- Day shift team includes 1 charge nurse, 3 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1-3 sitters supporting all 22 ORs
- Uses Meditech EMR
- Shift schedule is Saturday through Monday, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- No on-call requirements
- Weekend shifts required as part of this Charge RN role
Requirements
- Active RN license (TX or Compact) required
- Current BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of recent OR nursing experience required
- Cardiac experience required for cardiac service line assignments
- Neuro/Spine experience required
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)
- One professional reference required
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Serve as Charge RN overseeing OR staffing and daily operations on weekend shifts
- Perform and support procedures including appendectomies, cholecystectomies, spine fusions, total joints, craniotomies, mastectomies, and DIEP flaps
- Facility is not a trauma hospital
- Scrubs are provided; closed-toe, non-slip, heeled shoes required
- Candidates must be flexible, team-oriented, self-directed, and maintain a positive attitude
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Low staff turnover with several contract staff having transitioned to permanent positions
