Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CV Neuro ICU position requiring BLS, ACLS, and a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- 16-bed CV Neuro ICU with a 1:2 patient ratio
- Patient population includes stroke, ICH, SAH, SDH, brain tumors, cerebral edema/increased ICP, and hydrocephalus cases
- Also manages acute respiratory failure, sepsis/septic shock, pneumonia, ARDS, COPD/asthma exacerbations, acute heart failure, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleeding, acute liver failure, and severe electrolyte abnormalities
- Titrates drips including Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Vasopressin, Phenylephrine, and Dopamine
- Two clinical techs support the unit for 16 patients
- Utilizes mechanical ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
- No dedicated tele/monitor techs on the unit; RNs must read their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors
- 12-hour shifts, rotating 7P and 7A schedule totaling 36 hours per week
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant ICU experience required
- Must pass an ECG exam (pass/fail) on day 2 of assignment
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to a complex neuro and cardiovascular ICU patient population
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year (Major: Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day, Thanksgiving/Day after; Minor: Labor Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day)
