Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float Pool position requiring 1-2 years of recent progressive care experience and a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- Supports the Adult Inpatient Division with a preassigned primary unit but priority floating based on hospital staffing needs
- Preassigned unit may change during the assignment as census, acuity, and staffing needs evolve
- Floats across inpatient areas including PCU/Telemetry, Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, Medical units, and Surgical/Orthopedic units, caring for patients within scope of competency
- May be reassigned before or during a shift and may have primary unit assignment changed during the contract
- Patient population includes stroke evaluation, chest pain, arrhythmias, CHF, sepsis, respiratory failure, AKI, GI bleeding, altered mental status, and postoperative care
- Utilizes CPAP, high-flow oxygen, telemetry monitoring, and ECGs with escalation of rhythm or clinical changes
- Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Uses EPIC EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- 1-2 years of recent PCU/Progressive Care experience required
- Strong neuro assessment and cardiac monitoring skills required
- Must independently read and interpret telemetry strips
- Experience with Cardizem, amiodarone, and heparin drips required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Must meet required ECG/telemetry competency
- Prior travel experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provides safe, high-quality care while adapting quickly to different inpatient teams
- Minimum of 4 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
- Holiday coverage based on hospital need
- Navy scrubs required
- Orientation includes hospital onboarding and unit-based orientation across applicable inpatient areas
- Ideal candidate is an experienced, adaptable PCU nurse comfortable floating across units
