Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg/Telemetry Float position requiring 2 years of experience, EPIC proficiency, and a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- Float pool covering Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and Orthopedics units, including ortho trauma and total joint replacement patients
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Floating may be requested based on facility needs
- Uses EPIC charting system
Requirements
- Active VA RN license in hand or proof of compact license at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- ACLS certification preferred through AHA
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a Med/Surg/Telemetry setting within the last year
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and neurological/psychiatric care required
- CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) experience preferred
- NIH and stroke education required
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care across Med/Surg, telemetry, and orthopedic patient populations as part of a float pool team
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate of pay
- Previous permanent employees must have a 6-month gap before returning as a traveler
- Requested time off should be minimal, ideally none for a full calendar week and no more than 7 total days during the assignment
- All time off requests must be submitted with the initial application and confirmed prior to starting; no additional requests approved after offer
- First-time travelers are not considered for this position
