Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a combined adult/pediatric ER requiring compact or MD RN licensure and prior travel assignment experience.
Details
- Work in a General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric patients
- Patient ratio of 1:4-6
- Day shift (3x12 hours, 11:00-23:00) or evening shift (3x12 hours, 15:00-3:00)
- Every other weekend required, totaling 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Friday and Saturday nights)
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Orientation held every Monday
Requirements
- Active Compact RN license or MD state RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
- CPI and TNCC certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent ED experience within the last 7 years required
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital, LTAC, Level I Trauma, and Level II Trauma experience preferred
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Skilled in pediatric emergency care including abdominal pain, asthma, burns, seizures, respiratory infection, and head injury
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
- Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, overdose, and suicidal patients
- Experience with respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with emergency medications including IV vasopressors and procedural sedation
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population, including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric cases
- Perform triage, apply splints, and manage orthopedic trauma cases
- Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and interpret dysrhythmias
- Scrubs not provided; required color is royal blue
- Must reside within 60 miles for local rate consideration; local candidates accepted at a lower rate
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
- Former MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Manager interviews are not guaranteed, and candidates must be comfortable proceeding without one
- Facility-specific compliance modules, lab work, and drug screening must be completed within required timeframes to avoid cancellation
