Description
American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN for a Magnet-recognized children's hospital, requiring critical care experience and PALS/NRP certification.
Details
- Float pool position covering PICU, NICU, and additional pediatric units within the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals
- Care for pediatric patients across acute, intermediate, oncology, neonatal, and critical care needs
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
- Patient ratio of 1-2:4
- Floating required across pediatric units per assignment needs
- Every other weekend coverage required
- No on-call responsibilities specified
Requirements
- Active RN license, OR compact license accepted
- Current BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric critical care experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skilled in ventilator management, tracheostomy care, hemodynamic monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
- Experience with insulin administration and pediatric dosage calculations
- Experience with urinary catheter insertion and management
- Isolation precautions and infection control/PPE knowledge required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- ICP monitoring and dysrhythmia management skills preferred
- Two manager or supervisor references required from within the last 24 months (charge RN references not accepted)
- Comprehensive work history covering the last seven years required
- COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing coverage across PICU, NICU, and other pediatric units as a float pool RN
- Work within a Magnet-recognized pediatric hospital known for comprehensive pediatric specialty care
- Must be available to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day)
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mile radius restriction
- Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
- Former employees or travelers must have a gap of at least 6 months before returning to assignment
- Requested time off must be submitted upfront and not exceed two weeks
- Background checks are extensive and conducted via a comprehensive lifetime review system
