Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring Epic experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• 27-bed general medicine unit caring for respiratory, endocrine, cardiac, immune/infectious disease, and renal patient populations
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:00), with options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• 13-week assignment with every other weekend required
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• BSN preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills required include respiratory care, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), medication administration including Heparin protocols and PCA, cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols with drip titration
• Tracheostomy care/management experience preferred
• Renal failure management experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a variety of medical-surgical and telemetry conditions
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
• Time off around Christmas cannot be accommodated
• Candidates with prior UVA Health employment as permanent staff or travelers must disclose this; a 1-year separation and leadership approval is required for rehire
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
