Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 1 year of experience and Epic proficiency at a teaching hospital.

Details

• 27-bed General Medicine Unit caring for Respiratory, Endocrine, Cardiac, Immune/Infectious Disease, and Renal disease processes
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM), with 36 or 48 hour options available
• 13-week assignment with every-other-weekend requirement
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Float pool assignments required within scope of practice per facility float policy

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BSN preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skills required: respiratory care, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, Heparin protocols, PCA, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols and titration, renal failure management

Additional Information

• Care for a diverse general medicine patient population across multiple body systems
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
• Time off around Christmas cannot be approved
• Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous UVA employees (permanent staff or internal/external travelers) require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers are limited to a maximum of 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
