Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a VA or compact license and PALS certification.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) of a hospital setting
- 1:2 patient ratio
- 13-week assignment with rotating day (7:00-19:00) and night (19:00-7:00) shifts, 4x12 hours
- Scheduled 36 or 48 hours per week
- Requires working 3 weekends per six-week schedule
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Pediatric cardiac experience is a plus
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Experience with critical care skills such as ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT, and hemodynamic monitoring preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct care to critically ill pediatric patients including respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurologic, and gastrointestinal support
- May float within scope of practice as needed based on unit staffing
- Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation
- Maximum 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
- Time off not approved during first 2 weeks of contract
- Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this health system
