Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level II trauma center, requiring at least 24 months of recent OR circulating experience and expertise in general, robotics, pediatric, and trauma cases.
Details
- Operating Room unit within a Level II trauma center that reserves suite space for trauma cases
- 16 total OR suites with 12-14 routinely running
- Average caseload of 35-50 cases per day with turnover expectations under 20 minutes
- Service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Ortho (primarily trauma), Robotics, Gyn, Uro, General, Pediatrics, Transplants, and low-volume ENT and Plastics
- Utilizes 3 daVinci robots, Stealth technology for Neuro navigation, and Synthes or Stryker equipment for Ortho trauma
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Uses Epic EMR
- Night shift schedule, Monday-Thursday, 4x10s from 8:30p-7a, 40 hours per week
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- Float required across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
- Both scrub and circulating responsibilities preferred
Requirements
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
- Minimum 24 months of current Operating Room circulating experience required, with hospital/medical center experience prioritized
- Scrub experience highly preferred
- Required experience in General, daVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases
- Highly preferred experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular cases
- Epic EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
- Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 9 months
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Skills checklist specific to Operating Room/scrub nursing required for consideration
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided
- Holiday rotation required; contractor must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
- Weekend call, when applicable, runs from end of shift Friday until 6:30am Monday
- First-time travelers will not be considered; must have completed a prior travel assignment within the last 9 months
- Past UPH employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are restricted from working travel assignments at other UPH market facilities
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
