Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

  • Acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 12 labor beds, 5 antepartum beds, and 2 ORs
  • Unit includes an OB emergency room with 6 triage beds
  • Handles 150-200 births per month, ranging from high-risk to routine OB cases
  • Also cares for antepartum patients requiring extended stays prior to discharge or delivery
  • Follows AWHONN staffing ratios
  • Uses OB Trace fetal heart monitoring system and Meditech EMR
  • Charge nurse role is generally supernumerary, outside the staffing grid
  • OR techs serve as OB techs, assisting with c-sections, vaginal deliveries, and stocking
  • Day shift schedule, 7a-7p (645a-645p)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating to postpartum as needed
  • Neonatology and OB hospitalist coverage in house 24/7
  • Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
  • No IV team on unit
  • 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation provided

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
  • Intermediate or higher EFM certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not considered
  • BSN not required

Additional Information

  • Care for patients ranging from high-risk to routine OB cases, including antepartum patients
  • OR techs support c-sections, cerclages, tubals, and vaginal deliveries on the unit
  • Facility is designated Baby Friendly with in-house lactation support for mothers
  • Scrubs provided by the hospital
  • Holiday coverage rotates in with permanent staff
  • Must reside more than 72 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel assignment
  • Not eligible if employed by the facility within the last 12 months
