Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 2+ years of OR experience and availability for rotating call.
Details
- Acute care setting in a 19-suite Operating Room performing 55-60 cases per day, approximately 1000 per month
- Full-service facility handling most surgical specialties except major pediatrics and transplants, functioning as a level 2 trauma center with some ortho/neuro trauma cases
- Robotics cases performed, no c-sections in the main OR
- Uses MEDITECH EMR
- 10-hour day shifts from 1045a-0915p with rotating days off
- Rotating weekday and weekend call required with a 30-minute response time
- Two specialty call teams (ortho/neuro and cardio/thoracic) cover call every night
- No floating required
- One week of floor-specific orientation provided
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2-3 years of OR nursing experience required
- BSN not required
- Must have basic competency across most surgical specialties
- Skills checklist must accurately reflect proficiency level

- Charge nurse role runs as a nurse manager in charge
- OR techs on staff are CST certified
- Surgeons on call 24/7 covering their own cases
- Vent patients recover mainly in ICU
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
- Scrubs provided by facility
- Scrubbing not required but preferred for RNs
- Holiday coverage rotates in with permanent staff, flexibility required
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement
- Not eligible if previously employed by this facility within the last 12 months
- Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility are essential given the fast-paced, high-need environment
