Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a day-shift inpatient position requiring at least 1 year of medical oncology experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Inpatient Medical Oncology unit within a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
  • Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5, with 1:3 for BMT patients on all shifts
  • Treats solid tumor patients (lung, breast, pancreatic), leukemia, and bone cancer with average stays of 3-5 days
  • BMT unit has 96 beds
  • Performs IV starts, trach care, port and central line access, and infusion pump management
  • Uses CAD pumps for medication administration
  • Uses EPIC charting system
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floats within service line to meet facility needs as needed

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted for submission)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • BSN preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, oncology experience preferred (Med/Surg with oncology patient experience also considered)
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Skilled in IV therapy, port/central line care, and infusion pump management
  • Chemotherapy administration and monitoring skills preferred but not required
  • BMT and stem cell transplant experience preferred but not required
  • Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair compatible with respirator fit testing

Additional Information

  • Provides direct patient care to oncology patients including chemotherapy and radiation therapy support, IV starts, and central line management
  • Care for patients with breast, lung, and pancreatic cancer as well as BMT and leukemia patients
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
  • No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Standard travelers may work up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break in service
  • Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a travelers
  • Navy blue scrub color required
  • Contract length is firm at 13 weeks

Cons

Just parking if you work dayshift have to take a shuttle to hospital and park far in a parking lot. Nightshift you can park in the garage.
