Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MS/Tele Float Pool position requiring 2+ years of med-surg/tele experience and prior travel contract history.
Details
- Float pool position covering all acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
- Patient population includes Ortho/Neuro-Stroke and Cardiac Tele cases
- Patient ratios of 1:4-5
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
- Every other weekend required, with flexibility requested
- Float within scope to meet facility needs as required
- No on-call requirements
- Shifts may be split between two units (e.g., 8 hours in one area, 4 hours in another), requiring strong time management skills
- Uses Epic for charting
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required, pending license accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, specifically in MS/Tele or stepdown at a Level I or Level II trauma center
- Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Experience with peripheral nerve catheters, particularly on high-volume ortho floors
- Strong ortho/neuro clinical skills required
- Experience with titration of insulin drips required
- Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
- Skills in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA, and pre/post neurosurgery care
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac cath/surgery care
Additional Information
- Located within a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level I trauma status
- Float pool role supporting multiple acute care and telemetry units based on facility needs
- Manager prefers to avoid scheduling travel pairs together
- Solid color scrubs accepted; light blue scrubs also provided on unit
- 1 of 3 major holidays may be requested off, but 2 holidays (eve/day) must be worked; no RTO for Christmas
- RTO cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of the assignment; minimal RTO requests preferred
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
- Former UW/facility staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a travelers
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
