Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring AL or compact license and Level I/II trauma experience.
Details
- Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department with 71 beds
- Patient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatric, and psychiatric cases
- Receives transfers from other facilities
- Patient ratios: 1:4 ER, 1:5 MS Holds, 1:3 ICU Holds
- EMR: Cerner
- IV pumps: Plum 360, medication dispensing via Omnicell, monitors by Spacelabs
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, 36 hours per week on a 36/48 schedule
- Weekend rotation required (every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month on block schedule)
- No floating required
- No on-call requirements
- Unit support includes CNA (1:12), receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy until 0300, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist
Requirements
- Active RN license (AL state or compact) required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Secure/CPI, NIHSS, and TNCC
- At least 2 years of critical care experience (ICU or ER) with the most recent year in a Level I or II ER, or 3+ years of Level III trauma experience at a 300+ bed facility for first-time travelers
- Cerner or Epic experience required for first-time travelers, preferred for experienced travelers
- Skills required: trach care, vent care, ICU drip care and maintenance, chest tube, art line, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley, splint/ortho device application and care, BiPAP/HiFlow, and continuous bladder irrigation
Additional Information
- Level I Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center; not a teaching facility
- Largest trauma center within a 100-mile radius
- New-to-facility travelers and returning travelers gone 1+ year receive 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours on the unit
- Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy
- Facility blackout dates apply and change yearly, limiting requested time off during those periods
- Up to 7 days of requested time off can be pre-approved, excluding blackout dates
- Scrub color: any solid color
- Parking available in a parking garage
- First-time travelers will be considered if experience requirements are met
- Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Former Baptist perm staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
