Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-risk Labor & Delivery position requiring OB circulator skills and a CO or compact license.

Details

  • Acute care Level III trauma hospital setting on a 22-bed L&D unit with 2 OR suites, 7 triage beds, and 34 postpartum beds
  • Unit averages 8-12 births per day and around 2900 births per year
  • Patient population includes labor, C-section, pre-eclampsia, IDM, and various antepartum complications
  • Night shift schedule, 7p-730a, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend
  • On-call requirement of 18 hours per 6 weeks in flexible increments
  • Required to float to postpartum and potentially within Zone 1 facilities (PEN, SFH, SFI, SMC, STM) in cases of extreme need
  • Uses EPIC EMR and GE Corometrics fetal monitoring system
  • RNs are required to read their own fetal monitor strips and titrate drips such as oxytocin and mag sulfate
  • Anesthesia in house 24/7 and Level III NICU with APPs in house 24/7, though neonatologist is not always in house
  • Surgical techs support the unit but no dedicated charge nurse coverage

Requirements

  • Active CO or Compact RN license required, no pending licenses accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of high-risk L&D experience required
  • Must be able to circulate C-sections in the OR
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for laboring, postpartum, and high-risk OB patients including C-section circulation duties
  • Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility per CO radius policy, with driver's license used to verify permanent address
  • Travelers hired into this position are expected to float within their assigned zone and must arrange housing accordingly
  • Unit-specific orientation includes 1 shift in addition to standard onboarding
  • Hospital-provided scrubs required
  • Weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
  • Candidates with recent direct employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities within the past year are not eligible
