Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Float position requiring active CA licensure and at least 2 years of Telemetry experience.
Details
- Float pool position covering Med-Surg, Cardiac Telemetry, and other Tele units
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
- 36-bed unit with average census of 36 and 1:4 patient ratios
- Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
- Every other weekend coverage required
- No on-call requirements
- Royal blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Epic EMR experience required
- Ventilator management experience required
- Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring, and use of Rapid Response Teams
- Cardiovascular skills required for post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Medication management skills including Heparin protocols and non-titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Respiratory and thoracic skills including chronic ventilator care, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
- No background or license issues accepted
- Professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide float coverage across Med-Surg and Telemetry units as needed based on facility demand
- Advanced onsite EKG competency exam required prior to start, consisting of 20 questions including 17 rhythm strips with an 80% minimum passing score
- Facility is smoke and nicotine-free, and candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
- Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
- Return staff considered on a case-by-case basis
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO must be submitted with the initial application and cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Once submitted, RTO dates cannot be changed except to cancel requested time off
