Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU Float position requiring travel experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• PCU float role primarily supporting Med Surg units, requiring flexibility to float as needed
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• 13-week assignment with 84 biweekly hours and a 72-hour guarantee
• Requires agreement to a 36/48 hour alternating schedule; straight 48 hrs/week may be considered
• Weekend work required, potentially most weekends during the contract
• Block scheduling may be accommodated, but set schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and ER Holding settings

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required, in hand before start
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience strongly preferred
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and port access/management
• Respiratory skills required: BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response/code team use
• Medication management skills required: heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, PCA, and thrombolytic agents
• Additional skills required: wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube management, and surgical drain care
• Cardiovascular skills required: pacemaker management, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care, and TR band use

Additional Information

• Care for patients with cardiac, renal, neurological, and post-surgical conditions in a stepdown/PCU environment
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening, including marijuana testing, upon arrival
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or provide a completion plan
• Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
