Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an ER Holding position requiring 2 years of ER experience and a NM or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the ER Holding unit of a hospital environment
• Emergency department patient population with 1:4 patient ratios
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 18:30-7:00) with 36 or 48 hour options
• Weekend shifts required
• Floating required to like units within scope, with capacity for up to 1:6 ratio
• Brief orientation provided when floating to another unit

Requirements

• Active RN license (NM or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, CPI, and NIHSS (ACLS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory care skills including chest tubes, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation, CVA care, substance withdrawal, and feeding tube management preferred
• Medication administration experience with Heparin and Insulin
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within the ER Holding unit, including emergency response and monitoring
• First time travelers are welcome to apply for this unit
• Must reside outside a 50 mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
