Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care - Surgical/Trauma unit position requiring ventilator experience and a VA or Compact RN license.
Details
- Intermediate care unit focused on pulmonary and cardiac care with med/surg overflow
- Patient population ranges from adult to geriatric with acute and chronic pulmonary and cardiac conditions
- Patients may require advanced airway management including ventilators, tracheostomies, high flow O2, or BiPAP
- Care for cardiac conditions such as CHF, MI, unstable angina, pericardial disease, dysrhythmias, and pacemaker/ICD issues
- 22-bed unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts
- Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks
- Floating required in rotation with client staff per facility policy
- On-call responsibilities apply only to certain areas such as OT, IR, and Cath Lab, requiring proximity within 30 miles/30 minutes of campus
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Cardiac telemetry background within the past year required
- Experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown setting required
- Ventilator management experience required
- Comprehensive respiratory proficiency required, including high flow, tracheostomy, and BiPAP management
- Skills required: dysrhythmia management, on-unit telemetry monitoring, rapid response team use, pre/post cardiac catheterization care, central/peripheral/PICC line management, cardiac drip management, heparin protocols, traumatic brain injury care, and isolation precautions
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Willingness to serve in charge RN role preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a cardiac and pulmonary intermediate care setting including monitoring, medication administration, and airway management
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Facility is smoke and nicotine free
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), with exemptions subject to CMS guideline compliance
- COVID vaccination or approved exemption required
- EPIC training required prior to start, with class length based on recent EPIC experience
- Previous VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as travelers
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront and are approved at manager discretion, with minimal time-off requests preferred during the assignment
