Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 24 months of Med/Surg experience and current charge experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details

• Med/Surg unit caring for pulmonary and medical-surgical patients
• 23-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6
• May care for COVID-positive patients
• Heparin drips administered on the unit
• Uses Epic EMR
• Night shift schedule of 4x12-hour shifts, 48 hours per week (36 hours available if preferred)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Float required across Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of current Med/Surg experience required
• Pulmonary patient care experience required
• Recent or current charge experience required
• Experience with pulmonary/ventilated patients on BiPAP and trach care highly preferred
• Level I Trauma experience highly preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Located within a Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital with a comprehensive cardiac and cancer care program
• Holiday rotation required, working 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• First-time travelers will be considered if the 2+ year Med/Surg experience requirement is met
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or float pool PRN) are ineligible to work travel assignments at other UnityPoint Health facilities within 12 months of separation
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration
