Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk unit requiring an active AK RN license and AWHONN certification for night shift coverage.
Details
- High-risk Labor & Delivery unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Unit includes 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
- Average of 7 daily deliveries with up to 14 patients including inductions and high-risk antepartum care
- OB Triage averages 4-5 third trimester testing patients plus additional daily triage patients
- Facility performs 100-200 births per month
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- May float to like units within scope as needed
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Charge experience preferred or willingness to train as charge
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience with labor and delivery management including vaginal delivery, C-section circulation/recovery/scrub, and sterile vaginal exams
- Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
- Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, preterm labor, PROM, and VBAC
- Knowledge of medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Copies of certifications required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

- Responsibilities include neonatal care in the delivery room, newborn assessment and care, postpartum care, and antepartum monitoring
- Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- Facility only accepts Hepatitis B vaccination; titers or declinations not accepted
- Local candidates not accepted; must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work a maximum of 1 calendar year per assignment and must take a 6-month break before returning to the same facility
- RTO must be submitted and approved individually at time of offer
- Candidates may only apply to one facility within the region
