Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Stepdown RN with 2+ years of experience and active SC or compact RN licensure for a day shift position with frequent floating.

Details

• 29-bed general surgical and orthopedic MS unit with medical overflow (4T)
• Frequently floats between MedSurg, Stepdown, and MS/Tele units
• Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, MedSurg 1:5-6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
• Weekday schedule with every other weekend required
• EMR: Meditech, experience preferred but not required
• No guaranteed unit assignment due to frequent floating

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact license required
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience required
• Stepdown/PCU experience required due to frequent floating
• IV start skills required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Meditech charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across MedSurg and Stepdown/Telemetry units as needed
• Floating occurs within a single hospital in rotation with staff, with orientation provided per Joint Commission standards
• Scrubs not provided; royal blue/white scrub color required
• Holiday and weekend coverage required in rotation with staff
• Minimal to no RTO approved; any time off must be discussed prior to assignment start
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Previous employees must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure
• Facility will not accept candidates with license or background issues
