Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Oncology for a practice nurse role at an academic Level I Trauma Center, requiring ONS certification and prior oncology/ambulatory experience.

Details

• Ambulatory oncology practice nurse role, not an infusion position
• Care for oncology patients before, during, and after treatment, including follow-up, pre-op, and post-op visits
• Responsibilities include telephone triage, inbasket management, and assisting providers during clinic visits
• Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• May float between specialties within scope as needed
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required prior to start date
• BLS certification required
• ONS/ONCC certification required
• Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with consideration for 1.5 years if Level I trauma or travel experience
• Practice nurse and ambulatory care experience required
• Phone triage experience required
• Prior oncology experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Trauma Center experience at a large facility required
• Skills in biotherapy, chemotherapy administration, oncologic emergency management, symptom management, and psychosocial care preferred
• 1 professional reference required

Additional Information

• Work within a Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center setting with over 1,500 staffed beds
• Scrub color required is royal blue
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemption
• RTO requests up to 7 days can be auto-approved; longer requests require additional approval
• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former staff must have separated from permanent employment for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Weekend shifts are not required for this position
